Parkville Student President's Welcome

Melissa Lee

On behalf on the Monash Parkville Student’ Association (MPSA) it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Victorian College of Pharmacy (VCP).

MPSA is the official undergraduate student association at VCP. It was established in 2004 to service the needs of a growing and diversifying student population at the Parkville campus. MPSA is responsible for representing students and voicing student opinion. Additionally, MPSA provides a variety of student facilities, including the undergraduate common room and CUBE room, and organises numerous social, cultural and welfare activities to supplement the academic aspects of university. MPSA aims to encourage students to participate and become actively involved in university life and to make your time at VCP as fun and rewarding as possible.

University life is fantastic. It is a new phase in your life where you have the opportunity to meet lots of people and make awesome friends that you will keep beyond your years at university. It is a time where you will begin to experience the diversity of people and the multiplicity of the world. University life offers you more freedom to do as you wish and follow your own dreams. It encourages you to take on responsibility for yourself and for your endeavours to achieve your potential.

The role of MPSA is to complement the academic demands of university and provide a relaxed, fun and supportive environment to enhance the VCP university experience. Courses offered at VCP ensure graduates have an abundance of knowledge in order to enter well respected professions. Additionally, involvement in the numerous events and activities run by MPSA and the Clubs and Societies, allow VCP graduates to develop well rounded life skills to further their professional success.

In 2008, MPSA have planned a long list of events. These include the highly anticipated VCP Ball 2008, the O.C (orientation camp), paintball, cocktail nights and various fun competitions to name a few.

Furthermore, we would love for you to become part of the MPSA committee. In the second week of term one you will have the opportunity to nominate yourself or your friends to become a student representative and join MPSA. This is a great opportunity to get involved and I urge you all to consider it. Becoming part of MPSA provides a chance to become actively involved in student life and ensure student academic and social needs are looked after. As part of MPSA, you can also develop business skills, social skills, gain respect and most importantly have a lot of fun as part of exclusive committee.

Again, congratulations and welcome to VCP.

I hope you all have a fantastic first year of uni!

Thank you,
Melissa Lee
