Five Essential Things to do During Orientation1. Download your own personalised Orientation PlannerVisit the eOrientation Planner to create your own personalised Orientation program. 2. Get to know your facultyMake sure you take the opportunity to meet staff and other students in your faculty. As well as meeting new people, orientation is a great time to find out about the services offered by your faculty. 3. Get to know your library and the IT servicesIt makes a lot of sense to do a library tour during Orientation http://www.lib.monash.edu.au./classes/. You'll learn to find your way around the library and how to borrow and use electronic resources. The Library is located on the ground floor of the Manning building why not drop in and get the whole story! Located in the Library the ITS help desk can help with queries regarding my.monash portal, authcate passwords, email or IT access. Get access to email and the internet by signing up for a computer account by visiting www.monash.edu.au/students/computer/. Computer accounts are a must for all courses! The IT Service Desk located in room on the ground floor of407 Royal Parade and can help with queries regarding the computer labs. The IT desk operates from 8:30AM to 5:30PM weekdays during semester. 4. Get to know your student union and join a club or societyMPSA is organises lots of social activities, provides services such as cheap photocopying and supports the clubs and societies at Monash Parkville. Take the time to say hello to one of your friendly MPSA reps and find out what they are all about. VCPPA represents all postgraduate students on campus and organise some great social activities, contact VCPPA and join in the postgraduate community at Monash Parkville. You should also get to know the clubs and societies on campus. Clubs and societies are a great way to meet people, broaden your interests and take time out from study. You can sign up to the clubs on Monday lunchtime. Some of them charge to join, so bring some money with you. 5. And last but not least - have funJoin in orientation activities - follow your mentors lead and make the most of your uni experience! Ask questions, chat to people and get a feel for uni life. Join a club; this is a great way to ensure you will keep meeting new people throughout the term. Remember, everyone is new just like you, so don't be shy. Get involved and have a ball!
