(Adrian & Ben standing in front of the Monash sign - walking towards camera)
Adrian: Hi all, my name is Adrian.
Ben: and I'm Ben.
Adrian: We're students here at Monash University Gippsland.
Ben: To help you get settled, connected and equipped for study, we're going to take you on a tour of our, and your new, campus.
Adrian: Are you ready for a little touring? Let's go.
(Ben at the Facilities and Services Counter with Clair)
Ben: Gippsland is a fantastic place to study and live and we're glad you've joined our tight-knit community. Now if you're not a local, you'll want to get to know the area and find the best way to get here. Here's transport expert, Clair to explain your travel options.
Clair: G'day??
Ben: Although most of us drive to uni, there are other options, right?
Clair: Absolutely! For students coming from outside the area, they can catch the train to Morwell station, and use our shuttle bus or subsidised taxi service to get up to the campus. There's a direct bus that meets morning and afternoon trains, and outside of those times, a taxi will bring you up here for just a dollar.
Ben: Nice - but what about those of us who have to drive?
Clair: Sure - it's a part of life, but we encourage students to think about using the Monash carpool service. It's a great way to meet other students and be kind to environment at the same time. Log onto my.monash to find the University's carpooling matching service and your perfect match...
Ben: Thanks Clair, I'm off to explore a bit further.
(Adrian at the Student Services counter)
Adrian: I'm at the main entry of the campus in Building 1W.
We're heading into the Student Service Centre to meet Daniel- the keeper of all Service Centre knowledge!
Adrian: Hi Daniel tell us about what goes on here.
Daniel: We help students with their administration matters. Think: student IDs,fee payments, transport concessions, scholarships - basically, all the things you need to get enrolled…and stay enrolled!
The best thing to do if you have an administrative question is to come and see us, or visit our online enquiry service, ask.monash.
Adrian: (interrupting and to the camera) Remember ask.monash, it's an excellent resource if you're looking for quick answers.
Daniel: And, if we can't answer your questions, we'll certainly point you in the right direction.
Adrian: Great, how about pointing me in the direction of IT Services?
(On screen - Ask.Monash: https://my.monash.edu.au/askmonash/)
(Adrian and Ben walking up through the knuckle stairwell to the ITS service desk.)
Adrian: I'm passing through the Knuckle. You'll probably travel through here a couple of times a day.
Down the hall is the ITS helpdesk - they'll get you sorted with usernames, passwords, and all the other stuff you need to get online .
Here at Gippsland, we're really well connected with an easy-to-use wireless network and 24-hour computer labs. If you have any hassles, just visit the folks at ITS - they're not just handy, they're friendly too!
(Ben standing outside the library)
Ben:When you think of study support, think of the Library
Hi Beth Can you tell us how the Library is more than books?
Beth: Aside from books, journals, on-line resources and computers - we can provide research assistance, study advice and all the info you need for getting the best marks possible.
Ben: And we're here in the new library learning space - and I notice everyone is talking?
Beth: Of course - this is what the learning space is all about! We want students to work together, explore and use new technology - basically, all the things they'll be doing in the workplace after they graduate

(Adrian walking through the student lounge)
Adrian: I'm here in the Student Lounge - it's run by MUGSU, your Student Association - and is a great place to hang with comfy seats, a uni bar and stuff to do like table tennis or pool. There's even the MUGSU shop around the corner, where you can grab Monash gear, phone credit, course materials and everything in between. Towards the back of the Student Lounge, you'll find the MUGSU offices. To give us the low down on what else MUGSU offers students, meet Nigel.
Nigel: Hi Adrian
Adrian: In the past I've attended trivia nights run by you guys - is that what the MUGSU is all about?
Nigel: Yeah, we have plenty of social events. Students can get involved by attending parties and events, joining a club or writing for MUGSU publications.
Adrian: So there are lots of social activities and fun stuff to get involved in, what about advocacy?
Nigel: Yeah, it's good to remind students that the MUGSU provides representation and support. Students can come and talk to us anytime, and we'll take them through the many ways we can assist with student rights and welfare matters.

(Ben walking in to the HUB centre)
Thanks, Adrian. Opposite the Student Lounge in Building 3N, is the Health and Wellbeing Hub where you'll find a range of student support.
Firstly, here is Jo tell us what the Hub is all about.
Jo: We assist students with matters that impact on their personal and study lives.
Ben: Like say financial aid or child care?
Jo: Yes - exactly. We can assist with off-campus housing, international student matters and family and child care. Plus we offer services like chaplaincy and financial aid.
(On screen - Health and Wellbeing: http://www.monash.edu.au/health-wellbeing/)
Ben: What if I'm feeling unwell?
Jo: We have a campus nurse who can attend to your medical needs.
Ben: Anything else new students should know?
Jo: Yeah we are your link to other services like the Disability Liaison Unit, Indigenous Student Support and Employment and Careers Development.
Ben: I can see why you're called a ‘hub'!
Ben: Ok, so what about if we're having a rough time emotionally, do we come to the same place?
(Jo introduces Terry the counsellor)
Terry: You do.. I'm on the Counselling team and we're co-located with the Hub. We're a free, confidential service, run by psychologists and social workers. We encourage students to talk to us about where they're at - there are no trivial matters. The sooner you get support, the sooner you're back on track.
Ben: (one eye open) Expensive?
Terry: There's no charge…
Ben: That's right, there's no charge! Hub services are available because Monash understands students face all kinds of tricky situations while they're at uni- and as Terry the Hub is all about providing the support you need, when you need it.
(On screen - Health and Wellbeing: http://www.monash.edu.au/counselling/)
(Adrian walking up to Monash Residential Services counter)
Adrian: So you've heard how the Hub can assist with off-campus housing but what about on-campus housing for those who want to roll out of bed and into a lecture? Den is here to tell us more...
Den: Monash Residential Services, also known as MRS, manages housing on campus. Each unit has all the comforts you'd expect from your home away from home. Better still, MRS provide lots of support to residential students and organise all sorts of activities, like pyjama parties and movie nights, on a regular basis.

(Adrian standing in HUB offices talking to Freda)
Adrian: To keep you safe, I'm with Freda from the Safer Community Unit. Why would a student contact your department?
Freda: Students contact us when they feel threatened by text messages, emails or unwanted attention or because they're worried about the welfare of someone else. If you find yourself in this position, visit the Hub or phone the Safer Community Line which is on the screen right now.

(Adrian standing outside on decking talking to Ian)
Adrian: I'm with Ian from Security who also play a role in keeping you safe on and around campus.
(On screen -Monash Security http://fsd.monash.edu.au/security)
Adrian: Now let's say I'm studying late and feel a bit weird about walking around by myself… could I call you for a walk to my car?
Ian: Yes, we can escort you to your car, student residences and to other locations around the campus.
Adrian: Can students call at any time?
Ian: Absolutely, if you feel uncomfortable or face an emergency situation, call us first. On campus, dial 333 from any landline or 5122 6999 from your mobile - and it's a great idea to put those numbers in your phone.
(On screen - Emergencies: 5122 6999, General Security: 5122 6662)
Adrian: Thanks Ian! It's great to know you're around - any chance you could walk me to Monash Sport?
(Ben standing at pool table in the student lounge)
Ben: While you're studying it's important to stay active and Monash Sport is the place to do it - and make some new mates at the same time. G'day Shane
Shane: Hi all, the MUGSU Sport Team provide a range of sport and recreation opportunities for you to get involved with. We organise trips to the snowfields, camping at national parks, beach and surfing trips and outings to AFL and A-League soccer matches.
Ben:Cool, anything for those not wanting to take a trip?
Shane: Yeah, there's organised bike tours, team sports and local activities - or you can even get really serious with it, and enter the Monash or Australian University Games.
Ben: Nicely played! Thanks Shane, (THROWS BALL TO Adrian) See? You just gotta get involved!

(Adrian & Ben walking in front of the large wall mosaic towards the recycling bins)
Adrian: We are really glad you're now part of the Gippsland campus and one of the greenest unis in Australia. Not just outside (motioning to the landscape) but inside as well.
You can reduce your environmental footprint by signing up to the Uni's Environmental Pledge. For every person that takes the pledge, the university donates $5 to renewable energy.
Ben: And don't forget - use recycle bins (throw recycling in the recycle bin) and switch off lights and equipment when you leave a room.
(On screen - Monash Environmental Pledge http://fsd.monash.edu.au/environmental-sustainability)
(Adrian & Ben standing together on deck.)
Ben: Well we've reached the end of this Monash University Gippsland campus tour, but it's only the start for you.
Adrian: Enjoy this experience and make the most of it.
Ben: Search the campus for your favourite spots, find out more about your student services and get involved
Adrian: There's plenty of opportunities to meet people, make some mates and become part of the community.
Adrian and Ben: Here's to the beginning of your success at Monash University Gippsland campus.
