Six Essential Things to do During Orientation1. Download your own personalised Orientation ProgramVisit the eOrientation Planner to create your own personalised Orientation program. 2. Get to know your libraryIt makes a lot of sense to do a library tour during Orientation http://www.lib.monash.edu.au./classes/. You'll learn to find your way around the library and find out how to borrow and use the electronic resources. Library tours continue throughout the first few weeks of classes, but you should beat the rush and get in early. Look for details of the tours in the 2006 Orientation activities at Caulfield campus publication and on the Orientation website. 3. Sign up for a computer accountGet access to email and the internet by signing up for a computer account during Orientation. Get your account by visiting http://www.monash.edu.au/students/computer/ Visit the ITS Service Desk located in the Service Centre, level 1, Building A to find out details. Computer accounts are a must because all courses will require you to have access to the web and email. 4. Sign up for tutorialsFind out if you need to sign up for tutorials this week. Attend your faculty or department information session to find out more. 5. Join a club or societyClubs are a great way to meet people, broaden your interests and take time out from study. Check out the list of clubs and societies on the Orientation website and visit the club stalls during Orientation. Some of them cost to join, so bring some money with you. 6. And last but not least - have funJoin in Orientation activities, ask questions, chat to people and get a feel for uni life. Remember, everyone's new just like you, so don't be shy. Get involved and you'll have a ball. |
