Our experienced staff are expert in sourcing even the most unusual request. And the best part is the Bookshop is owned by MONSU Caulfield, meaning that profits go back into your student services. Camino Coffee HouseLocated on level 2, Building C - next door to Fresco Juice Bar. Camino Coffee House offers fresh, great quality coffee as well as a wide range of hot meals (including breakfast), foccacias, sandwiches, cakes and other snacks. Caulfield PlazaThe Caulfield Plaza is only a short walk from the Caulfield campus. Here you will find a range of shops and services, including a Coles licensed supermarket, a Commonwealth Bank, a chemist, a hairdresser, a telecommunications shop, a discount variety store, and various food outlets. ChaplaincyServices provided by the Chaplains include regular opportunities for worship and meditation, pastoral counselling for spiritual, religious and personal issues; research, lectures/workshops and weekly study groups on Scripture, faith reflection and personal growth. Child Care and Playgroup (also refer to Koonawarra Playgroup)Monash University Family and Child Care supports families with children working and studying at Monash University. Programs and services include: Monash University School Holiday Program (MUSHP) held on the Clayton campus, playgroups, special events, seminars and resource information for families with children. The Hub and Family and Child Care specialist staff can provide advice regarding childcare, primary and secondary school, playgroups, school holiday care and other child and family support issues. Monash (Caulfield) Child Care Centre is located at 22 - 24 Derby Road, Caulfield and is open 48 weeks a year Monday to Friday 7.45am - 5.45pm. It is fully accredited and is registered for 50 children, which includes a funded kindergarten program. Permanent bookings are available on a sessional, daily and weekly basis, with enrolments being taken throughout the year. The centre is a not for profit service with a voluntary Parent Management Committee, so parents have direct input into the centre's polices. The Child Care Benefit is available to eligible families. Salary packaging is available for staff of the University. Enquiries and inspections welcome. Clubs and SocietiesJoining a club is a great way to meet people, learn new skills and expand your university experience. There are more than 40 clubs and societies to choose from, including faculty, cultural, religious, sporting and special interest clubs. To become a member, contact the club directly or check them out during the Orientation Festival in the first week of semester. CounsellingThe Counselling Service offers free professional counselling to help you get the most out of university life. Issues that often come up for students include relationships, personal and study problems, adjustment to university, cultural identity and psychological concerns such as depression, stress, anxiety and self-esteem. The service is located at Health, Wellbeing and Development, level 1, Building B. Appointments are necessary, but emergencies will always be accommodated. For more details, telephone (03) 9903-2500. Disability Liaison UnitThe Disability Liaison Unit (DLU) provides a range of services to assist students who have a disability or a long-term medical condition to participate as independently as possible in academic activities. Some of the services a DLU registered student may be able to access include note-taking, AUSLAN interpreting, provision of material in alternative formats, access/use of the Adaptive Technology Room and alternative arrangements for assessment. To access these services, students must be: actively enrolled in an award course at Monash University, have a disability defined in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and provide appropriate, current documentation from a relevant, qualified professional in the particular field of the disability/health profession. Faculty Gallery - Art and DesignThe Faculty Gallery in Building G (Art and Design building) is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm. The Gallery showcases a diverse range of higher degree student and staff-generated exhibitions that reflect the teaching streams of the Faculty. Fresco Juice BarLocated on level 2, Building C - next door to Camino Coffee House, Fresco offers a delicious range of smoothies, juices, yoghurt, fruit salad and more. Gryph Inn/Uni BarLocated on level 1, Building K - right on the edge of the common lawn, the Gryph offers tasty, value for money bistro meals at lunch time, pool tables, large screens, and comfortable sofas - a place to catch up in a friendly, student bar environment. Opening hours during semester: Monday to Friday 11am - late. Bistro open from 12pm - 3pm (full menu). Bar snacks available after that time. Shorter opening hours during non-semester times. Health ServiceWe have male and female Doctors who are available Monday to Friday 9-5pm. Appointments are preferable and long consultations available upon request. Our doctors have special interests in travel medicine and immunisations, skin checks and women's and men's health. Appointments with the Doctors are free to Monash students upon presentation of a valid medicare card or overseas insurance card. The Health Service also offers appointments with some allied health care providers such as Physiotherapist, Optometrist and Shiatsu Therapist. Health, Wellbeing and DevelopmentHealth, Wellbeing and Development offers counselling, chaplaincy and advisory services in relation to financial matters, international student support and housing. It is co-located with the Health Service, which provides a free medical clinic, a campus nurse and a number of allied health services (see Health Service). Information Technology Services (ITS) Service DeskDid you know that every Monash student receives a computer account to access various IT services? Some of the services include; printing facilities, access to computer laboratories and wireless technologies. To register your IT account please visit the ITS website. If you require further assistance you can visit our ITS Service Desk located in the Student Service Centre, level 1, Building A, counter 9 and 10 or you can contact us by telephone on (03) 9903 2777. During semester the ITS Service Desk is open Monday to Thursday from 9.00am to 8.30 pm and on Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm and during non teaching from 9am to 5pm. Intercampus Shuttle BusAn intercampus shuttle bus service operates between the Caulfield (location - bus shelter near the tunnel) and Clayton (location - bus loop) campuses. Check the Shuttle Bus web site for a schedule. International Student SupportInternational student support is available via the Hub at Health Wellbeing and Development level 1, Building B. Student advisors are available to assist international students by offering specialist orientation information, organising temporary accommodation and airport reception upon arrival. They also provide information and advice regarding visa issues, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and settling into study at Monash. Koonawarra PlaygroupPlaygroup is an informal session where babies, toddlers, preschoolers, parents and carers can meet together in a relaxed environment. Children who go to playgroup can make new friends, have new experiences, gain self-confidence and develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Parents and carers can meet new people, practise English language skills and share cultural exchange in an Australian early childhood setting. Learning SkillsTo improve your academic learning skills, visit the Library and contact the Learning Skills Advisers. Assistance is provided in such areas as oral communication and presentation, reading, study and exam preparation, effective listening and note-taking in lectures and seminars, analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking, and academic essay, report and thesis writing. Learning Skills Advisers in the Library run classes as well as sessions for students in specific units and 15 minute drop in sessions for students wanting to get quick help with a specific question. Students can make appointments for consultation on referral from their faculties. To book for classes click on the library link at the top of your "My Monash Portal" then search for and enrol in listed classes offered by the Caulfield Library. LibraryVisit Caulfield Library in Building A (enter via Dorey Mall), or access our substantial online full text collections and many services via the Internet any time wherever you are. The Caulfield Library offers extended opening hours including weekends. It provides access to print books and journals as well as an excellent range of electronic resources, chosen by lecturers and specialist subject librarians to support campus courses. The Caulfield Library provides a substantial number of PC work stations for student use and powered tables for laptop use. All levels of the Library are covered by the wireless network. Friendly staff can assist you with finding items on your reading lists and other information for your studies. Tours and classes are also available to show you how to do this and how to use Library facilities and equipment. MamaDuke Cafe, Bar, Restaurant and Function SpaceLocated in the basement of Building H, MamaDuke is the only experience on campus (open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner). Rated the best coffee on campus and amazing food that ranges from warm Italian home-made pizzas and baguettes to the gourmet a-la carte restaurant, as in the Good Food Guide 2009. With all types of catering from club meetings to 21st birthdays, not to mention some of MamaDuke's infamous nights for everyone to attend. MeditationDaily sessions for quietening the mind. Research shows that the practice of mindfulness meditation reduces anxiety and depression and improves health and wellbeing. Mindfulness meditation has no religious affiliation, but is based on traditional meditation practices. The sessions are facilitated by Health, Wellbeing and Development psychologists who have been trained in the art of mindfulness meditation. Held daily, 12.00 to 12.30pm in the Caulfield Campus Spiritual Centre (B1.56). Offered free of charge to Monash students and staff. Mid-Week Social NightMid-Week Social Night provides regular events every Wednesday from 5pm-7pm during semester at various on-campus locations. All Caulfield students are invited and the aims of the program are to foster a community atmosphere, to improve networks and to promote friendships. The program also provides students with volunteering opportunities to increase their employability prospects. The events aim to enhance the student experience. Check the noticeboard opposite the MONSU Caulfield Service Desk and WATZON each week to find out details and location of that week's event. Monash Caulfield MagazineThe Monash Caulfield Magazine is the official student publication for Monash's Caulfield campus. It is produced by students for students. Its purpose is to serve all students on campus by providing an entertaining mix of stories in the areas of the arts, politics, sport, film, music, information technology, education, opinion and travel. New contributors are always welcome and will be recognised for their efforts. The magazine's office is located on level 2, Building S, and editors can be contacted on (03) 9903-2525 or by email:vice.president@monsucaulfield.org.au. Monash Postgraduate Association Inc. (MPA)The Monash Postgraduate Association Inc.(MPA) provides services to, and represents the interests of, all postgraduate students enrolled at Monash University. Services include advice and advocacy to students who have problems or grievances and organisation of postgraduate specific events. All postgraduate events are published in the MPA Guide to Postgraduate Programs, which is available at the beginning of each semester. For more information, drop in for a chat. MPA is located at Room B33, Building H. The office is open from 9am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm on Tuesdays, 9.30am to 6pm on Wednesdays and from 2pm to 5pm on Thursdays. Monash Residential Services - Caulfield CampusMonash Residential Services, located in Building A, Room A1.29 provides an on and off-campus housing information service to the students and staff of Caulfield campus. The off-campus information service website contains comprehensive information in various languages about off-campus living and legal requirements for staff and students. We also provide an extended personal support service for staff and students experiencing tenancy difficulties ranging from specialised legal information, mediation between households as well as Tenancy Tribunal hearings support. The on-campus service is focused on the Mews Apartments managed by Monash Residential Services at Caulfield campus. Hours of operation are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Monash SportJoin social lunchtime or evening sport competitions for indoor soccer, mixed netball, cricket or basketball. There is a large variety of indoor and outdoor sporting clubs at the Caulfield campus training and competing regularly. Join over 400 Monash students representing the University at the Australian University Games against all other Universities from around Australia in a huge variety of sports. A large number of sports and ability levels are available for all to enjoy. Keep an eye out for the Community Fitness Events including the Mother's Day Fun Run/Walk, Around the Bay in a Day Bike Ride, Melbourne Marathon Festival, Singapore Marathon, Johannesburg walk, and Portsea Swim Classic. Monash Sport - Fitness CentreThe Caulfield Fitness Centre is located on level 1, Building S, next to Chisholm Hall. The Centre is open to the public and staff, with discounted prices for Monash students. With a relaxed training atmosphere, it offers a full range of cardio and new weight-training equipment, personalised training programs, special healthy programs, exercise-to-music classes including Les Mills, and the option to arrange reciprocal membership at other Monash Sport Campuses. Direct Debit option is also available for your membership. Monash University students have discounted access to the tennis courts day and night, and access to equipment for hire. MONSU Caulfield Service DeskThe MONSU Caulfield Service Desk can help you with just about anything. Located on level 2 of Building S, it provides a range of services for students including lost property, dry cleaning, black and white and colour photocopying, binding, passport photos, faxes and laminating. MONSU Experience TeamThe MONSU Experience Team works closely with the student representative team to provide the clubs and societies, student events and Orientation (including the Host Scheme) programs. MONSU Student Rights and SupportMONSU Student Rights and Support is a confidential service providing information, advice, referrals, assistance and advocacy to students at Monash University. We specialise in assisting students in the following areas: academic progress, cheating or plagiarism accusations, student grievances (formal complaints), result disputes, administrative questions, special consideration (requests for extensions). MONSU Student Rights and Support staff are also actively involved with various aspects of University life including the Exam Help Desk, situated at the Caulfield Racecourse Exam venue. Overseas Student Services (OSS)The OSS is an elected student body of international volunteers which exists as a department of MONSU Caulfield to represent and service the large number of international students on Caulfield campus. Here students can relax, read newspapers and magazines, study and meet other international students. OSS also runs various activities throughout the year including a week long Multicultural Festival in Semester 2. Red JacketsLocated next to the Student Lounge on level 2, Building S, Red Jackets offers you a great coffee to go and is available in three take away sizes to keep you awake through a whole lecture. Tower SushiTower Sushi is located on level 1, Building S and offers an assortment of sushi packs, hand rolls, miso soup and Asian beverages, including green tea. Trips and ToursTrips and Tours offers a range of great travel opportunities for students, staff and the public (with a discounted price for Monash students). The Great Ocean Road, Penguins, the Grampians National Park, Winery tours, Dolphin swims and trips to Sydney, the Red Centre and Tasmania are all on the program. Day and weekend trips to the snow make for great fun with your fellow Monash students. The memories and experiences on offer through Australia are unique and should be enjoyed by everyone.
