Six Essential Things to do During Orientation1. Download your own personalised Orientation PlannerVisit the eOrientation Planner to create your own personalised Orientation program. 2. Get to know your faculty staffMake sure you take the opportunity to meet staff and other students in your faculty. As well as meeting new people, faculty-specific information is provided during Orientation. 3. Get to know your library and learn more about your computer accountIt makes a lot of sense to take a combined library and computer class during Orientation http://www.lib.monash.edu.au./classes/. You'll learn to find your way around the library and find out how to borrow and use the electronic resources. Learn about your computer account, email account, the internet and the web portal. To take a class, come into the Berwick Library and Learning Commons, ground floor building 901. 4. Get to know your student unionMUBS (Monash Union of Berwick Students Inc.) is your student union. Look out for the services offered, including education, international (BISA) and welfare representation, social activities, clubs and societies, and free BBQs and tea/coffee facilities in the student lounge. Check out their website at www.mubs.com.au. 5. Join a club or societyClubs and societies are a great way to meet people, broaden your interests and take time out from study. Check out the list of clubs and societies listed on this website and visit the stalls during Orientation. Some of them charge to join, so bring some money with you. 6. And last but not least - have funJoin in Orientation activities, ask questions, chat to people and get a feel for uni life. Remember, everyone is new, just like you, so don't be shy. Get involved and you'll have a ball. |
