2nd year PhD research student
Department of Physics
Faculty of Science

My lifestyle as a research student is the perfect blend of student freedom, and the respect and endeavours of a researcher, with responsibilities as physics demonstrator on the side. I'm full time at uni, often working overtime - but the hours are flexible, if need be.

I cherish the opportunities to travel and work overseas as part of my research. It's very rewarding working on novel techniques, and contributing to the progress in x-ray science globally - it's a very exciting field to work in today.

I am working as part of a team that's developing an experimental technique to non-destructively look at nanoparticles with x-rays. We conduct our experiments at 2 synchrotrons in Japan, Photon Factory and SPring8, the largest third generation synchrotron in the world.

The photos you're seeing are taken from these experiments over my first year as a PhD student at Monash.
