Monash Sport is in great shape to assist with health-related new year's resolutions following a revamp of facilities at Clayton, Caulfield and Peninsula campuses.

Martin Doulton, Director of Monash Sport, said the new facilities and equipment are a perfect way to keep members motivated in the new year.

“As the new year commences, we often arm ourselves with new resolutions. While making resolutions can be the catalyst of positive change, sticking to our resolutions is often the hardest task,” Mr Doulton said.

“Whether your resolution is to lose weight, to get in better shape or simply exercise more, Monash Sport is here to help you keep your promise to yourself this year by providing our campus communities with a range of higher quality facilities.”

The Caulfield campus health and fitness centre is now twice its previous size after renovations expanded the gymnasium. In addition to the new dedicated functional strength training (TRX) area, Monash Sport members will be able to enjoy new cardio equipment in the expanded cardio zone.

The Clayton Sports Precinct is in the process of being reinvigorated with an enhanced, user-friendly layout. The aim of these works is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment while increasing usable gym floor space.

A new informal, outdoor soccer pitch and basketball court is currently being built in place of two existing tennis courts. The retiling project of the Doug Ellis swimming pool and adjoining leisure pool is well underway and normal aquatic services will resume during Semester 1.

Late February will see the launch of the $12.8 million Monash Peninsula Activity and Recreation Centre (MPARC). MPARC will feature a new gymnasium space, a group fitness room and a group cycle studio.

“MPARC will see the launch of an expanded social sport competition, which will lead a dramatically improved set of sporting services and facilities on the Mornington Peninsula,” Mr Doulton said.

Seven day free trials are now available for all facilities. For a full list of the new facilities available, visit the Monash Sport website.
