Monash alumnus named editor of The Monthly

Monash alumnus John van Tiggelen has been selected from a field of more than 70 applicants as the editor of high-profile magazine The Monthly. 

Mr van Tiggelen, graduated from Monash in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science before establishing himself as a journalist, most recently as a writer for Fairfax Media’s Good Weekend. He has been shortlisted for the prestigious Walkley awards four times and is a winner of the Commonwealth Media Award.

Established in 2005, The Monthly is a nationally-distributed magazine with a focus on politics, culture and society, and a readership of more than 120,000. It publishes investigative journalist, essays and reviews.
