Applications are open for the 2013 round of Marie Curie Fellowships, awarded by the European Commission.

The fellowships are available to researchers in all areas of scientific and technological research that are of interest to the EU.

Under the scheme, around 1000 experienced researchers from a range of disciplines will share in 227 million euro. Host organisations can be universities, research centres or companies. The fellowships generally cover salary for two years plus research costs and overheads for the host institution. A mobility allowance is also included.

Two fellowships are available to non-European researchers:

International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF) call number FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IOF

IOF offer researchers from Europe a chance to acquire new knowledge and training from a high-level organisation outside Europe. As part of the grant agreement, the researchers have to return to Europe and share this knowledge.  Any application for an IOF is required to be made in liaison with the host organisation in Europe and Monash.

International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) call number FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IIF

IIF offer researchers from outside Europe to be trained within a European institution. Any application for an IIF is required to be made in liaison with the host organisation in Europe and Monash.

Director of the Monash Research Office, Halina Oswald, encouraged researchers to apply for the fellowships.

“The fellowships offer an excellent opportunity for researchers to not only progress their projects, but to build invaluable international networks," Ms Oswald said.

"The Research Office is more than happy to assist with applications and I urge anyone wishing to apply to contact us with any queries."

Applications close 5pm, Wednesday, 14 August 2013.
