Graduation

Many students can find it difficult to break into the workforce on their own, especially in uncertain financial and employment climates. However, this changes when universities proactively work with potential employers, opening the way for graduates to find their niche.

For the second year in a row, Monash University has received the Best Careers Service for Employers award from the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) at the Australian Graduate Recruitment Industry Awards (AGRIA).

AAGE is the peak industry body representing organisations that recruit and develop Australian graduates.

Employers across the national graduate recruitment industry are surveyed annually to nominate university careers that provide the best service for employers. The 2012 AAGE Employer Survey responses once again showed Monash University as the clear winner.

Sarah Herrmann, Team Leader for Industry and Community Relationships in Employment and Career Development (ECD), believes that winning the award for two consecutive years is a tribute to the dedication of ECD to achieving the best possible outcomes for Monash students and graduates.

“ECD connects employers with the Monash community through a range of services that link students to employment and career development opportunities. The passion and commitment of our team shines through when providing connections for students to employers and employers to Monash,” Ms Herrmann said.

Working closely with Monash University faculties, ECD organises career festivals, fairs, on-campus recruitment, employer-facilitated career development programs and forums and the online job advertising system, Career Gateway.

ECD is dedicated to providing quality customer service, aiming to make it simple for employers to access a rich network of Monash student and graduate talent.

“We provide employers with a unique opportunity to engage with a ‘Monash mind’ through our career forums and professional preparation programs for students. We pride ourselves on being experts in the graduate recruitment industry and university environment, able to advise and support employers in their recruitment activities,” Ms Herrmann said.
