A common interest in teaching has seen five local friends commence their training together at Monash University’s Berwick campus.
Local residents Amber Craig, Melissa Habibovic, Kaitlin Howard, Shannen Powell and Lauren Richardson are part of the first intake of 103 students for the University’s new Bachelor of Education (P–10).
The girls met while students at Berwick Secondary College where they became friends and are now training to become teachers together at the University’s Berwick campus.
“We were all excited when we found out we had been accepted in the same course,” Ms Craig said.
“It is great to be able to complete my degree so close to home and to have the support of good friends at the same time.”
The Bachelor of Education (P-10) is a specialised four-year program of study covering all aspects of the curriculum, from Prep throughout the primary years and from years 7 to 10 within secondary settings. It is one of 10 new courses introduced at the Berwick campus this year.
