Strengthening palliative care18 November 2004 Developments in palliative care in Victoria will be highlighted during a two-day conference being held at the Monash University Gippsland campus from today. The conference, Strengthening Palliative Care in Victoria -- Parts of the whole: City or Country, has been organised by Palliative Care Victoria and has attracted more than 200 delegates from Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. University of Sheffield Professor in Palliative Care, Sheila Payne, and renowned author Ms Sonia Orchard, will present the keynote speeches at the conference. The conference is being hosted by Vivian Bullwinkel Chair in Nursing, Palliative Care, at Monash University, Professor Margaret O'Connor. The two-day event will highlight a range of issues including innovations and new developments in palliative care, issues for care management, addressing policy issues and updates on clinical issues. Professor O'Connor said the conference aimed to address the different challenges impacting on the delivery of palliative care in the city and the country.
