The Opportunity

As the PhD candidate, you will work on a project that focuses on how to engage communities in the transition to Water Sensitive cities funded through the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) Water Sensitive Cities.

The CRC brings together the inter-disciplinary research expertise and thought-leadership to undertake research that will revolutionise water management in Australia and overseas. It is a collaboration of over 70 research, industry and government partners that will deliver the socio-technical urban water management solutions, education and training programs, and industry engagement required to make towns and cities water sensitive. For more information on the CRC see: http://watersensitivecities.org.au/

Your PhD will be part of a project that focuses on how to engage communities in the transition to Water Sensitive cities. You will join a vibrant interdisciplinary collaboration with strong connections to both industry and government. The overarching goal of the project is to benchmark current levels of water literacy in Australia and identify and evaluate community-friendly strategies to promote more sustainable urban water management. Your project will focus on the latter aim. You will identify and trial a variety of communication strategies. In addition to making academic contributions, the applied outcomes of the project will include recommendations about how best to communicate a sustainable urban water management message.

The Monash PhD is one of Australia's first PhDs with career enhancement built into the doctorate. From January 2013, Monash University introduced a range of dedicated, discipline-specific PhDs which incorporate coursework and research training skills development. For more information please got to http://www.monash.edu.au/migr/why-monash/phd/index.html
