Monash University is hosting a series of free lectures by some of its leading archaeologists, on Sunday 28 May.

Meet the Monash Archaeologists II will highlight the latest fieldwork and research being undertaken by Monash archaeologists in Egypt, China, the Papua New Guinea highlands, Torres Strait Islands, and Sardinia, Italy. The event caps off National Archaeology Week, which runs from 21 to 28 May.
Speakers include:
Dr Angelo Andrea Di Castro on The Kashgar Oasis in China's Gobi Desert
Ms Joy Kremler and Mr Richard Long on ancient Egypt
Mr Tom Chandler on 3D reconstructions of China's Angkor and Kashgar oases and Egypt's Dakhleh oasis
Dr Ian McNiven, Co-Director, Programme for Australian Indigenous Archaeology, on Indigenous archaeology in the Torres Strait Islands
Dr Tim Denham on the origins of agriculture in the highlands of Papua New Guinea
Associate Professor Jim Peterson and Ms Lucia Lancellotti on Sardinia.
Monash's School of Geography and Environmental Science, the Centre of Archaeology and Ancient History, and the Monash Asia Institute are presenting the lectures. The event coordinator is Monash PhD researcher Ms Lucia Lancellotti.
"Monash is well known for the excellence of its teaching programs in archaeology and related fields," Ms Lancellotti said. "The lectures are a great opportunity for the public to hear and talk to professional archaeologists who are leading the way in their field."
National Archaeology Week aims to increase public awareness of Australian archaeology and the work of Australian archaeologists both at home and abroad, and to promote the importance of protecting Australia's archaeological heritage.
