Leading US educators will advise Australian retailers how to gain a competitive edge by integrating branding, technology, systems, pricing and services into their businesses at a program later this month.
It is a rare opportunity for Australian retailers to learn from experts who work regularly with America's top retailers.
The three academics, from the Retail Management Institute, Santa Clara University, are being brought to Australia by Monash University's Australian Centre for Retail Studies.
The institute's clients include Gap, IBM, Levi Strauss, J.C Penney, Safeway and Target.
The five-day residential program, 'Optimising value in a multi-channel retail world', is designed to help senior retail managers understand how to balance the many components of retailing.
The Australian retail centre's program director Lenore Harris said it was the first time the program had been offered in Australia.
"The program facilitators know how technology is being used and have expertise in analysing data to respond quickly to market changes," Ms Harris said.
"Participants will learn how best-practice retailers such as Zara and Wal-Mart are leveraging their multi-channel retail strategies and gain an understanding of different concepts, models and tools they can apply to their own organisations."
