This is the burning issue Monash University's best legal and medical minds will argue at the 2005 Great Law Week Debate.
Presented by the Monash University Law School and the Law Institute of Victoria, this year's debate is dedicated to the memory of Monash law alumnus Campbell McComas AM, who moderated the inaugural debate in 2004.
Mr McComas was a unique speechmaker and impersonator whose performing career began almost 30 years ago while he was still a student at Monash.
Two teams of Monash law and medicine graduates and their associates will debate under guest moderator Dr Sally Cockburn, also known as radio and television personality Dr Feelgood.
Victoria's Health Services Commissioner Ms Beth Wilson , chief medical officer of Southern Health Dr Sy d Allen and current Monash medicine/law student Mr Dev Kevat will argue the affirmative.
The negative team will comprise one of Melbourne's most respected QCs Mr David Galbally, former world and Australasian debating champion Ms Kim Little from law firm Clayton Utz and recent law/ economics graduate Ms Kylie Lane, who was named world's best speaker at the 2005 University Debating Championships.
