Monash University has increased its first-round offers by 4.42 per cent compared to 2006. The total number of offers in 2006 was 7967 compared to 8335 places offered for 2007. The number of Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) offers increased from 7220 in 2006 to 7448 in 2007. This follows a strong increase in demand from students wanting to study at Monash in 2007, with the number for first preferences increasing by 11.3 per cent and the overall preferences total increasing by 9.3 per cent. Monash University Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Merran Evans said she was very happy with the continued demand for courses at Monash University.
"We are working to communicate the opportunities that Monash offers more effectively to students and their parents and by their response, it seems that some of the excitement that we have about Monash is spreading."
The following faculties have increased their offers.
- Art and Design, with an increase of 30.84 per cent
- Law, with an increase of 23.08 per cent
- Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, with an increase of 19.35 per cent
- Information Technology, with an increase of 11.89 per cent
- Engineering, with an increase of 7.9 per cent
- Arts, with an increase of 3.40 per cent
- Education, with an increase of 3.24 per cent
