Conference on major tax incentive and venture capital changes

12 January 2006

Major changes to Australian tax incentives and global venture capital will be the focus of a seminar held by Monash University and law firm Blake Dawson Waldron on Tuesday 6 February.

Monash University's Associate Professor Stephen Barkoczy - a leading expert on venture capital structures - will outline important tax incentive changes for 2007 and the implications for venture capitalists and investors. Professor Barkoczy is also a consultant to Blake Dawson Waldron.

"The Australian Government is actively trying to develop Australia's venture capital industry by introducing various incentive schemes to encourage venture capital investment," Associate Professor Barkoczy said.

"The main Australian development is the introduction of a new Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnership scheme which provides tax incentives to encourage venture capital investment in Australian small and medium-sized enterprises."

Professor Daniel Sandler from the University of Western Ontario, Canada - another leading expert on venture capital structures - will discuss global developments in venture capital with a focus on North America, UK and Asian schemes and their implications for Australian venture capital.

What: Developments in Venture Capital Structures and Incentive Schemes

When: Tuesday 6 February from 4.45pm to 6.45pm
