Sculptures made from toffee, exquisite mushroom ornaments made from blown glass and the work of a student who draws while blindfolded all feature in the end-of-year exhibition from graduating students of Monash University's Faculty of Art and Design.
The exhibition will run at the university's Caulfield campus from 22 November - 9 December.
It is the first time Design and Multimedia students will exhibit their work as one major event, called HATCH. The HATCH exhibition will run concurrently with the Fine Arts student exhibition, depART.
Mr Denver Cramer, a fourth year Industrial Design student from Wheelers Hill, whose bright red swirling piece "The PPP Project" doubles as a customisable sculpture and furniture piece for large corporate foyers, said he felt exhilarated and a little daunted about being part of the HATCH exhibition.
"With my chair, which is a luminous bright red, I wanted to simply tackle what is an everyday subject, and give it a new and extended dimension," he said.
Sculpture student and Moe local Ms Yvette King, who gives her sculpture an unusual twist by building her works from toffee, said she was equally enthused about being part of the exhibition.
"We have all worked very hard, in what has often been a demanding but also stimulating environment, and these exhibitions are the culmination and high point of that process," she said.

"I know from the work that I have seen so far from different students that the standard is awesome as well as being challenging. A lot of the young people exhibiting are without doubt future trend setters and people to look out for in the art and design fields."
Professor John Redmond, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, said combining the Multimedia and Design and Fine Arts exhibitions would give the public the chance to see, in the same locale, some of the most innovative and creative work being produced in these fields.
"Monash has long been recognised as a resource for new talent in the art and design professions, and these two exhibitions certainly confirm and cement that view," Professor Redmond said.
"The faculties have a long and proud history of being significant contributors to the Victorian art and design tertiary education market."
Monash Art and Design Graduating Student Exhibitions will be held at the Caulfield Campus from 22 November to 9 December. Visit the Art and Design website for details.
