Peter Garrett to address national Art and Design conference

Peter Garrett, the Federal Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Reconciliation and the Arts, will deliver the keynote address at the 2006 Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools (ACUADS) Annual Conference hosted by Monash University and the Victorian College of the Arts.

Mr Garrett's address, 'Today's Philistine', will be presented on the second day of the conference at Monash University on Thursday 28 September. Monash's Faculty of Art and Design Dean Professor John Redmond will then chair a question session from the floor.

The conference, themed Thinking the future: art, design and creativity, will feature a range of sessions and addresses involving top art and design academics, practitioners and thinkers from Australia and overseas.

ACUADS is the peak body of university visual arts, crafts and design, representing more than 30 Australian university and TAFE art and design faculties, schools and departments.

Where: 27 September at the Victorian College of the Arts
28-29 September at Monash University, Caulfield Campus. Peter Garrett will speak at Monash University, Art and Design Building, Caulfield Campus, 10.30am

Cost: One day: $70 (concession) $125 (full); Three days: $165 (concession) $335 (full).
