The renowned Robert Blackwood Concert Hall, located at Monash University's Clayton campus, has just celebrated 36 years of operation.
The hall was named after Sir Robert Rutherford Blackwood (3 July 1906 - 21 August 1982) who was founding Chancellor of the University.
Sir Roy Grounds, architect of the Victorian Arts Centre, designed the hall which opened in June 1971. It took nearly three years to construct at a cost of $1.2 million.
The stained glass window that dominates the west wall was designed by Leonard French and is titled Alpha and Omega.
