"my.monash" portal receives award for outstanding achievement14 March 2007 The "my.monash" portal received an Australian Hitwise Online Performance Award in recognition of outstanding online business achievement in the education sector at a recent presentation night in Sydney. This category includes the websites of all educational institutions and places people go to learn, such as universities, schools and TAFE colleges. It also encompasses the website of any body dealing with official education administration. Alan McMeekin, Executive Director of the Information Technology Services Division, said: "Since its inception the guiding philosophy of 'my.monash' has been to provide each member of the Monash community with a personalised view of information, resources and services that are relevant in their specific role within the University." "This award provides external and independent confirmation that 'my.monash' is the 'channel of choice' for students," he said. As a result of an extensive consultation process, involving feedback and suggestions from over 7,000 students and staff, a new look "my.monash" was released last December. Janette Burke, Monash University Library Director of Central Services and chair of the "my.monash" steering committee, said the new information layout made content easier to find. "It has resulted in less clutter on the homepage, better grouping of information and more intuitive navigation," she said. Staff and students can contribute ideas on how "my.monash" can better meet their information and services needs by logging on to my.monash and clicking the 'Feedback' link on the top right corner of every page.
