Monash has hosted a series of dinner and lunch-time functions to recognise the valued generosity of major donors to the Australian Centre for the Study of Jewish Civilisation.

Functions have been held to honour Ms Lee Liberman, Mr Bori Liberman and Mrs Helen Liberman, Mrs Loti Smorgon AO and Mr Victor Smorgon AO. A dinner to honour the contribution of Mr Richard Pratt AC and Mrs Jeanne Pratt AC will be held in the future.

Among the university's senior representatives to attend the functions were Chancellor Mr Jeremy Ellis, Vice-Chancellor Professor Richard Larkins, Faculty of Arts Dean Professor Homer Le Grand, Vice-President (Advancement) Mr Ron Fairchild and Centre Director Professor Andrew Markus.

Professor Markus said the support of donors had allowed the centre to excel since it was established in 1992.

"The most generous support of four Research Chair positions has placed the Australian Centre for the Study of Jewish Civilisation at Monash University among the lead centres in Jewish studies internationally," he said.
