Fourteen international delegates from the international community development organisation Plan last week visited the Monash Community Family Co-operative to observe Australian childcare in action.
Representing Indonesia, Bangladesh, East Timor and India, the early childhood specialists were given a tour of the co-op, which is based at the Clayton campus, by staff and parents who sponsor children overseas through Plan.
Plan Australia's Program Manager for South Asia, Ms Kate Ramsay, said the delegates were impressed with the co-op's facilities and services.
"Because of Monash's superior infrastructure, we are here to observe best practice child care," Ms Ramsay said.
Acting coordinator of the co-op Ms Helen Dwyer said staff and parents were delighted to have the opportunity to meet with Plan delegates.
"Having many staff and families who come from South Asia, the co-op is naturally pleased to build relationships with our international colleagues," she said.
