Education graduates celebrate and learn

Monash's Peninsula campus recently hosted a conference to celebrate the graduation of Education students and help the graduates prepare for their first classroom postings.

The second Annual Graduates' Conference brought together early childhood, primary and graduate diploma students.

The conference featured addresses by Peninsula campus director Professor Phillip Steele and Haileybury College's Edrington campus principal Ms Lyn Watts, presentations of student projects, break-out sessions and a panel discussion providing career advice.

Ms Michelle Dean, who has completed her education/arts double degree, said she found the conference helpful and relevant.

"The panel discussions, in particular, provided us with information about handling our first job interview and ways to communicate effectively with the parents of children we will teach," she said.
