Chemistry award honors for Professor Hearn
26 October 2005
The director of the Centre for Green Chemistry, Professor Milton Hearn, has received a Royal Australian Chemical Institute medal for his significant contribution to science.
Professor Hearn (pictured) said he was delighted to have received the Analytical Chemistry Division medal for 2005.
The medal is awarded annually for excellence in pure or applied scientific work in analytical science.
Professor Hearn received the accolade for his contribution to pioneering analytical chemistry techniques that have found wide applications in the chemical and biotechnological industries. The judging panel was also impressed with Professor Hearn's dedication to the training of analytical chemists.
"The team at the Centre for Green Chemistry has developed elegant and broadly applicable research techniques that have advanced analytical chemistry both nationally and internationally, so it is quite an honour to receive this award," Professor Hearn said.
The 2005 medal adds to a growing list of awards Professor Hearn has received from the institute, including the 1998 H.G. Smith Memorial medal for research excellence and the 2003 Applied Research medal.
