Global Chinese New Year at Clayton

Chinese New Year came to the Clayton campus last week when Monash International Student Services organised a special screening of a New Year Gala held in New York.

Monash students and members of the wider Chinese community attended the Union Cinema to watch the inaugural gala that had been pre-recorded in New York on 17 January.

Monash International Student Services manager Ms Danielle Hartridge said the university recognised that New Year was an important time for the Chinese community and for the university's Chinese students.

"Often they don't have the opportunity to go home and spend this time with their family, so this event marked the occasion in a special way," she said.

Visitors enjoyed a buffet before the screening.
