Engaging Students Through FilmGuest Presenter: Carolyn Sutherland, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Law and Taxation. In this seminar, Carolyn will demonstrate two faculty-funded teaching resources that she has developed in conjunction with an external production company. The first is an interactive DVD, Navigating Workplace Relations: An Interactive Encounter with Employment Law. This DVD contains two hypothetical scenarios, exploring issues from the perspectives of both the employer and employee. Students are required to choose a character and make decisions in response to the legal and practical dilemmas that arise within a simulated workplace environment. With multiple pathways to select, the fictional character faces the consequences of the student's choices. The second is a short film, Rachel and Andy, which provides a fictionalised account of a workplace conciliation drawing on Carolyn's experiences as an employment lawyer.
