Cyber issues: Virtual, real and inner lives of children and adolescents: connection or alienation?

Published: 17 June 2009

Whilst cyber issues such as cyberbullying and computer addiction are gaining increasing media attention and public concern, there has been little attention to the clinical/mental health issues associated with these difficulties. This conference is a comprehensive one featuring keynote speakers presenting the clinical/educator/parental/adolescent perspectives as well as several clinical papers of case studies of children/young people exploring the interplay between their webbed and unwebbed worlds, a discussant panel of eminent child psychotherapists including Professor Bruce Tonge who will present the Plenary at the end of the day.

Keynotes: Child/adolescent psychiatrist Dr Jim Lees; senior educator Australia Communications and Media Authority Greg Gebhart; Cybersafety Outreach; Tom Woods 16-year- old cyber "wiz kid" as seen on 60 Minutes; and co-author Cyber Safe Kids Teaching Kit, Robyn Treyvaud.
