A study of emotional processing in depression

The Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre is seeking healthy female volunteers, aged between 40 and 59 years, who have no history of mental illness to assist us in a medical study of major depression.

Participation will involve two research sessions. The first session consists of a clinical interview and a few cognitive activities and could be conducted either at the Alfred hospital or Monash Clayton campus. The second session involves an EEG recording concurrent with completion of a simple computerised task. An EEG is a painless non-invasive procedure used to record electrical activity from the brain.

Each session will take approximately two hours and all participants will be financially compensated for the time and inconvenience of participation.

Information gathered will be used to provide a better understanding of the neurobiology of depression.
