Healthy Volunteers Needed for Phantom Pain StudyPublished: 22 April 2009 Volunteers, with no history of prior traumatic or chronic pain, or diagnosed psychiatric or psychological disorder, are required for brain research being conducted at the Alfred Hospital. This research is looking at processes underlying pain mechanisms in amputees. We require volunteers to undergo electroencephalogram (EEG) - a painless technique used to measure brain activity via recording electrodes that are placed on the scalp. These recordings will be taken as you watch pain-related visual stimuli. This experiment will require participants to meet with the experimenter for approximately half a day at the Alfred hospital. You will be reimbursed for travel and given a small stipend to cover any out-of-pocket costs of participating in this research. Venue: Alfred HospitalFor further information contact: |
