New Frontiers in Regenerative Medicine, Prof Christophe Marcelle, Faculty Member, ARMI - ClaytonPublished: 25 February 2009 Recently appointed to a Faculty Staff position at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute, Prof Marcelle will be outlining the research program he will establish when he relocates his group to ARMI at Monash later this year. Prof Marcelle was recently at the University of Marseille (France), where for the past ten years he has led a research group at the Developmental Biology Institute of Marseille, Luminy (IBDML). Prof Marcelle will describe two main lines of research. The first is vivo analysis of muscle morphogenesis in vertebrate development, addressing such important questions as the molecular mechanisms underlying muscle fusion. This line of research will build on his groups recognized expertise in the in vivo imaging of morphogenetic processes in live vertebrate embryos. The second main line of research will be a more systemic approach which aims to identify gene networks implicated in the maintenance and/or the differentiation of muscle stem cells.
