2009 ARC Discovery Grant

Associate Professor Rosemary Sheehan from the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and Professor Allan Borowski from Latrobe University have been awarded a 2009 ARC Discovery Grant, for two years, for $580,000 to undertake a national profile of Australia's Children's Courts.

The application was assessed as A+, on the top third of applications, of which 20 per cent were successful.

The study will examine the current challenges faced by Australia's Children's Courts in relation to both their child welfare and criminal jurisdictions and canvass what reforms are inappropriate for the jurisdiction.
