Service Award Medals - 50th Anniversary Ceremony - November 3 2008

Published: 1 October 2008

It is a University tradition to recognise staff who have worked at the University for at least 25 years and award them the Monash University 25 Year Service Medal.

As 2008 is the 50th Anniversary for Monash, the Vice-Chancellor has announced that in this Golden Jubilee Year, not only will 25 year medalists be honoured, but the award will be expanded to include those staff who have worked at Monash for 35 years and more.

More than 150 Monash staff who have such a loyal service record will be honoured at a special ceremony to be held in the Robert Blackwood Hall on Monday 3 November, 2008.

This will mark the twelfth occasion at which medals have been presented. The first presentation was made by the Duke of Edinburgh in May 1986 as part of the University’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Monash University Chancellor, Dr Alan Finkel AM will present this year’s awards. Professor Richard Larkins AO will also be attending and will deliver the welcome address.

Anyone wishing to attend the ceremony should contact Vicki Mihalakopoulos, Staff Development on +61 3 99056 800 or email Vicki.Mihalakopoulos@adm.monash.edu.au by Tuesday 7 October.
