Science Week -- Career Events
Published: 10 September 2008
Several career-related events were held during Science Week, Monday 18 to Friday 22 August.
The Science Industry Night allowed students to hear about the range of careers available to science graduates.
More than 200 participants heard from Dean of Science Professor Robert Norris and Dr Graham Phillips from ABC show, Catalyst.
Students then had the option of attending a Physical and Earth Sciences Panel or Life Sciences Panel, both providing students with insights into careers in science.
The panels included speakers from Intellectual Property Australia, Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, Western Port Greenhouse Alliance, Golder Associates and government departments DAFF and AQIS.
Science Week also included seminars covering interview skills and application preparation for science industry jobs. Both seminars were well attended and received extremely positive student feedback.
The career related events were organised through the Faculty of Science, the Monash Science Society and Employment and Career Development. |
