Depression relapse prevention study: Depression Awareness Recovery Effectiveness (DARE) -- Alfred Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Frankston Hospital, Geelong Clinic, Victoria Clinic

This NHMRC-funded study will examine whether depressive relapse can be prevented in people with recurrent depression by comparing mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with usual treatment plus active symptom monitoring.

Inclusion criteria:

  • aged 18 to 75 years
  • fluent in English
  • at least three previous episodes of major depression
  • not currently depressed.

Participants can continue their usual treatment including antidepressant medication if prescribed.
