Free Public Lecture: Jihadism in Europe -- MelbournePublished: 13 August2008 Internationally acclaimed author of ‘Suicide Bombers: the New Martyrs of Allah’, and ‘Muslims in Prison: a comparative perspective between Great Britain and France’, Professor Farhad Khosrokhavar will present a free public lecture entitled “Jihadism in Europe.” An expert in the fields of Islam in Europe, in particular the radical forms of religion and of Iranian society after the Islamic revolution, Professor Khosrokhavar is well-known for having personally interviewed detained, suspected young recruits of Al Qaeda to determine what leads them to contemplate terrorism. His lecture will discuss the common challenges faced by Europe and Australia, including dealing with the threat of Islamic radicalisation. Date: Wednesday 20 August 2008 Drinks will follow.
