Credentialling

Published: 6 August 2008

Credentialling is an administrative process used to evaluate the qualifications and practice history of a health professional. It is an important tool used to enhance patient safety. Credentialling ensures that people are appropriately skilled and qualified to be undertaking assigned tasks. It is needed not only when health professionals commence employment, but also on an ongoing scheduled basis to ensure that they are working within an acceptable and defined scope of practice. This seminar will be of value to health service administrators, those working in government at a policy level and clinicians working in both the community and hospital setting.
