Music and emotion study

Published: 25 June 2008

Music can have a powerful effect on our emotions and how we see things in the world. To examine this phenomenon, the Music Psychology team at Monash University is currently looking for participants to rate their emotional responses to films with varying types of music playing in the background.

To be eligible to participate, you must:

  • be aged between 17-50 years
  • not be on anti-hypertensive or mood stabilising medication
  • be right handed
  • have no uncorrected visual or hearing impairment
  • have not consumed any stimulants in the four hours before the study

You will be required to attend a 1 hour session at the Caulfield campus, with a second 1 hour session one week later at a location more convenient to you. Participants will be eligible to win one of 2 Gold Class cinema tickets.
If you are interested in participating please contact Sherilene Carr.
