Switchback Gallery exhibition -- Gippsland

Ode to womens' ways of making - A sculptural installation by leading Melbourne artist Starlie Geikie.

Starlie's practice analyses and questions the traditional associations of craft, with a particular emphasis on the feminine psyche.

Techniques such as embroidery and quilting are re-contextualised through sculpture and two-dimensional work, drawing into question the implied passivity of the craft act.

When: Tuesday, 24 June to Friday, 18 July, 2008
Venue: Switchback Gallery, Monash Gippsland. The Switchback gallery is located at building 6S,
Monash Gippsland and is open weekdays from 9 am - 5 pm.
Public closing:5 pm to 7 pm, Friday, 18 July 2008 -- artist will be present.
