Volunteers wanted for skill and decision-making research in Australian Rules Football

Published: 23 April 2008

We are seeking football players from your Club to be involved in a Monash/AIS study evaluating a test of the effect of strenuous exercise on decision making and skills in Australian football.

We are investigating the reliability of a new test of skill performance and decision making and the effect of protein drinks for combating fatigue and improving your decisions and skills towards the end of quarters and the later part of a game.

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Aged 18-35
  • Involved in 3-5 training sessions per week
  • Non smokers
  • Not suffering from or treated for depression.

You will be required to participate in 5 separate days of testing, at the Clayton campus, over a number of weeks involving:

  • Familiarisation with two Australian football specific tests
  • Fitness and psychological testing
  • Evaluating the reliability of the tests
  • Protein supplementation -- the performance of exercise tests using three different nutritional conditions

Benefits: Participants will be provided with a fitness evaluation and results about the effect of protein supplementation on performance.
