HOPE 3 study

Published: 16 April 2008

Prevention is the best approach for heart attack and stroke (the HOPE 3 study).

The Monash Centre for Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics (CCRE Therapeutics) is coordinating an international trial focussing on the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in those at moderate risk of future events.

The HOPE 3 study is the third of a series of studies addressing the important question of CVD prevention. The current study is looking for men greater than 55 years and women greater than 65 years who are at increased CVD risk due to:

  • Family history
  • Smoking
  • Overweight

The trial will focus on controlling blood pressure and cholesterol in the attempt to prevent future heart attack and stroke. If you are interested in finding out more about this study, please call Sue Montgomery at the Monash CCRE Therapeutics on 1800 199 108 or email to sue.mongomery@med.monash.edu.au .
