United Nations Association of Australia - World Environment Day Awards 2008

Call for Nominations

The 2008 United Nations World Environment Day theme is ‘Kick the Habit -- Towards a Low Carbon Economy’ focusing particular attention on global warming and opportunities for countries, companies and communities to de-carbonize their economies and life-styles.

Nominations for the United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards 2008 opened on 1 February. The World Environment Day Awards is a national awards program which recognizes businesses, local governments, organisations, community groups, individuals, schools and the media whose work serves to protect, manage or restore the environment. For complete guidelines, entry criteria and nomination forms please visit the United Nations (Victorian Division) website. Nominations Close Friday 2 May.

Nominations are invited from all Australian sectors in the following categories:
  • Szencorp Green Building Award
  • DSE Excellence in Marine and Coastal Management Award
  • ITW Industrial Packaging Education/School Award
  • Lincolne Scott Triple Bottom Line Award
  • Building Commission Award for Best Sustainable Residential Development
  • Sustainability Victoria Meeting the Greenhouse Challenge Award
  • Community Award
  • Individual Award for Outstanding Service to the Environment
  • Local Government Awards
  • Media Award for Environmental Reporting
  • Business Sustainability Awards
  • Excellence in Sustainable Water Management Award
