7 December 2005

When: Thursday 8 December, 10 am
Where: Room SG03, Manton Room, Menzies Building , Clayton campus

'Regional security and the Indian military: The paradox of an emerging economic superpower', presented by Mr Dinesh Kumar, PhD Candidate, Monash Asia Institute.

The thesis examines the paradox of India's military power. It looks at the fact that India is not the significant geo-strategic military player that it would otherwise like to be, keeping in view its size and significance. The first section comprising scene setting chapters examines the country's military size, significance and capabilities at a macro level and then co-relates it against its actual capabilities.
