Disaster Reduction on Coasts symposium

The Joint Working Commission for Disaster Reduction on the Coasts of the Indian Ocean is holding an international symposium to address issues on early warning systems, evacuation and refuge, education in hazard reduction, integration with social order and religious and cultural values, habitat and infrastructure and more.

This symposium is of interest to anyone concerned with disaster reduction, the reduction of poverty, education in disaster reduction, the sciences in relation to coastal engineering, geomorphology, seismology, meteorology, early warning systems and the engineering of structures and infrastructure for disaster resistance. It is also of interest to groups including NGOs concerned with social trauma and change associated with adoption of disaster reduction programs.
