Corporate Accountability Conference 200612 October 2005 "Enhancing Accountability in Corporations: Challenges and Prospects" When: 8 - 9 February 2006 The numerous corporate collapses in recent years have engendered many interventions and debates aimed at finding solutions for corporate misconduct and under-performance. This conference will provide a forum for continuation of the search for mechanisms that will minimize or prevent the sorts of problems that bring about the collapse and under-performance of many corporations worldwide. The conference will examine some of the challenges in this quest and the prospects of forging corporate governance systems that eschew misconduct and enhance viability. "Misconduct" here is used broadly and not limited to criminal behaviour such as fraud. "Accountability" is similarly used in a broad sense and includes financial accountability, accountability to shareholders and other corporate stakeholders, regulators, society generally, and the environment.
