17 August 2005

'The changing student experience: What does it mean for learning and teaching in higher education?' by Dr Kerri-Lee Krause, Centre for the Study of Higher Education, University of Melbourne

When: Thursday 18 August, 12.30 - 1.45 pm
Where: Higher Education Development Unit, Roseville Room, Level 1, 700 Blackburn Road, Clayton

This interactive session will provide participants with the opportunity to strike up a conversation on the changing student experience in higher education and what these changes might mean for educators. A key question for discussion will be: Is there scope for managing these changes or do we let them manage us? The session will highlight the importance of understanding the unique experiences of various demographic subgroups in the student body by drawing on recent student experience research. A focus of the discussion will be on the changing experiences and expectations of first year students in Australian higher education and implications for learning and teaching.
