Talking with Leading Scientists lecture series

'From Babylon to Silicon Valley, an illustrated history of mathematics', by Professor Bill Casselman, University of British Columbia

From Mesopotamia 5000 years ago, through the golden age of Greece and Venice in the Renaissance to Silicon Valley in the 21st century, mathematics has been transmitted and understood through striking and compelling images.

Professor Casselman will cover four major mathematical themes using photographs of clay tablets, manuscripts, ancient books and computer animations.

The lecture will be of interest to everyone who enjoys geometry, mathematics and art.
