Breast feeding mothers sought to participate in a pesticide study

20 July 2005

Researchers at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine are conducting a study about measuring the levels of mothers' contamination with pesticides.

Eligible mothers are:

  • Between 18 to 35 years old
  • Breast-feeding their first baby; for less than six months

The participant has to:

  • Collect a sample of her breast milk over a few weeks
  • Donate a 10 cc blood sample.
  • Allow a sample of ear wax to be taken from her ear channel by a physician.

The researchers will visit participants at their home to collect these items, at any time suitable for the participants. The result of each participant's test will be sent to her confidentially.
